Join us for this on-demand recording, as we discuss an often overlooked, but common issue with dementia - swallowing.  We will provide advice on how to recognize when your loved one may be experiencing problems with eating and swallowing, and the importance of having a speech-language pathologist as part of your Care Team. We will offer helpful suggestions to make mealtimes safer and easier, from table settings to food choices. There will also be discussion on the importance of monitoring hydration, and ways to make taking medications easier.

The presenter for this program is Nancy Swigert, who is a Board Certified Speech-Language Pathologist and Specialist in Swallowing. She was the Director of Speech-Language Pathology and Respiratory Care at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, KY. She Provides continuing education on Dysphagia and other clinical topics, and is serving as a study speech-language pathologist on a device-related multi-site research study.
